Can you tell us a little about yourself?
I started bookkeeping in Santa Barbara, CA in 1993 after the birth of my daughter. Being a bicycle courier was great but I also enjoyed doing the books for the company and decided to go study accounting. I had a successful at home bookkeeping business in Santa Barbara and worked with local accounting firms and small businesses. I found I had a knack for forensic accounting and began this work for local accounting and law firms in Santa Barbara. I moved back to New Hampshire 12 years ago to help my parents. In 2011, I became certified as a Fraud Examiner and expert witness.
Can you tell us a little about your work?
I am a QuickBooks Pro Advisor and I assist small businesses with setup, training and maintenance of bookkeeping. I also handle financial reconstruction for criminal fraud or civil cases such as divorce or estate and other family disputes.
When and why did you join the Newmarket Business Association?
I joined the NBA when I moved to Newmarket 5 years ago from Sunapee, where I had been taking care of my parents. I needed networking and exposure and it seemed like the best place to start. I joined the board because I wanted to help make a difference.
Why do you like being part of the NBA?
I love meeting new people and seeing the excitement in their faces that I felt when I found Newmarket. Moving from Santa Barbara to Sunapee was very difficult for me. Newmarket is a treasure – small enough that everyone knows and helps each other and large enough that there is a wonderful commercial atmosphere – plenty of opportunity for collaboration and success.
What are your thoughts about the future of the NBA?
The NBA is growing in leaps and bounds. With each new member come new ideas. I’m loving the experience and my business is growing exponentially. There is no limit to the opportunities for this board and the membership!
